English Scheme of Work for Middle Class (Ages 4–5), Term One

This teacher-made scheme of work plans ten weeks of Term One English lessons for nursery learners aged four to five, normally the Middle Class. It begins with orientation and revision from the holiday package. It then moves on to recognising and reading the letters a–z. Later topics cover objects in the sitting room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and classroom, and the unit ends with colours. Each lesson lists competences, teaching methods, life skills and values, learner activities, teaching aids and reference books. Activities include matching, filling in missing letters, finding the odd one out and simple sentence patterns such as 'This is a…'.
