Learning Framework for Early Childhood Development

Produced by Uganda’s National Curriculum Development Centre, this framework supports the development of children aged 3–6 at home and in formal or community preschool settings. It outlines learning areas involving relationships, environmental exploration, personal care, mathematical concepts and language development. Introductory guidance explains children’s developmental needs, learning through play and practical activities, and the aims of pre-primary education. The framework encourages parents, caregivers and teachers to facilitate purposeful activities using locally available materials. It addresses physical, social, emotional, intellectual, moral and spiritual development rather than assigning content to a single nursery class or school subject.
