S3 Physics Notes: Optical Instruments, Colour of Light and Electrostatics
0 views 0 downloads 0 shares 3 October 2026

These Senior 3 Physics notes start with the structure of the human eye and accommodation. They then cover defects of vision such as short sight, long sight and presbyopia, and the lenses used to correct them. The notes compare the eye with the lens camera and explain how a slide projector works. Later sections cover dispersion of white light, pure and impure spectra, the rainbow, ways of recombining a spectrum, primary, secondary and complementary colours, and colour filters. Learners can practise with questions on how coloured objects look under coloured light. The notes then move into electrostatics: charging by friction, conductors and insulators, and the gold leaf electroscope with its uses. They end with electrostatic induction.
