S4 Computer Studies Revision Questions: Computer Software

This three-page Senior 4 Computer Studies revision resource has ten structured questions on computer software, with several parts in each. Learners are asked to define software and its categories and to compare system software with application software. Other questions cover what operating systems do and how they are classified, graphical and command-line user interfaces, interface features such as menus and dialogue boxes, utility programs, antivirus software and backing up data. The paper also covers programming languages and translators, freeware, shareware, open-source software, software suites, and custom-made versus off-the-shelf software. It ends with ways of getting software, causes of software failure and installation requirements. It contains questions only, with no answers.
