UCE Mathematics Paper 1 (456/1) Examination Paper

This Uganda Certificate of Education Mathematics Paper 1 (456/1) is a 2 hour 30 minute exam. Section A has ten compulsory four-mark questions. They cover indices, algebraic simplification, matrices, triangle area, circle geometry, simultaneous equations, reflection and probability. In Section B, candidates choose five of seven twelve-mark questions. These include grouped data with an ogive, graphs of functions, trigonometry and angles of elevation, and solving equations with matrices. The other options are bearings by scale drawing, rotations and matrix transformations, and a linear programming problem about transporting sand. Learners can use the paper to practise for the exam and check their timing.
