English Learners' Companion for P4–P7: Grammar Notes and Exercises

This 159-page pamphlet was put together by a primary school's internal examinations board to help learners in P4 to P7 prepare for the PLE English paper. It is organised as numbered lessons. Each lesson gives a short explanation, worked examples and a practice exercise with space for answers. The opening lessons cover direct speech: how to punctuate it, the three patterns for placing the reporting verb, and the use of quotation marks. Later lessons cover changing direct speech to indirect speech, including changes to tense, pronouns and time expressions. The pamphlet also covers sentence structures such as 'hardly', 'scarcely' and 'barely'. Teachers can use it in class, and learners can use it for revision on their own.
