Primary 5 Social Studies Scheme of Work, Term 2

This scheme organises Primary 5 Social Studies teaching around living together in Uganda and the country’s historical development. Topics include ethnic groups and migration, kingdoms and chiefdoms, traders, explorers, missionaries, colonial rule, agreements and changing boundaries. Later sections address resistance, the Legislative Council, the Kabaka crisis, political parties and the elections preceding independence. Entries outline subject and language competencies, lesson content, teaching methods, learner activities, life skills, instructional materials and textbook references. Vocabulary practice, discussion and map drawing feature among the suggested classroom activities.
