S5 Geography Paper 1 Holiday Work 2020: East African Climate and Natural Vegetation

This one-page Senior 5 holiday assignment from a school geography department is for Paper 250/1 and dates from 2020. Learners explain what causes semi-arid conditions in East Africa and what effects they have. They also describe the main features of equatorial climate and examine why it occurs in parts of the region. A special research activity asks learners to look into natural vegetation. They describe the different vegetation types found in East Africa, explain what shapes where each type grows, and discuss why vegetation cover is shrinking. The tasks call for extended essay-style answers, which makes this useful for independent study during the holidays and for building skills in physical geography.
