This Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education Economics Paper 1 (P220/1) is a three-hour examination. Candidates answer five questions in total. Section A is compulsory and has short questions on laissez-faire economies, price discrimination, revenue calculations from a maize price table, the value of money, and the difference between tax impact and incidence and between tax evasion and avoidance. In Section B, candidates choose four essay questions. These cover monopolistic competition, economies of scale and why small firms survive, economic integration, Malthusian population theory, the limits of monetary policy in developing countries, and development planning. A-level students can use it for exam practice and teachers can use it for revision.
