Middle Class Reading Exam (Learning Area 5), Beginning of Term II 2023

This is a four-page early reading exam set by Outreach Schools Examinations Board for Middle Class learners aged four to five. It was given at the beginning of Term II in 2023 and covers Learning Area 5, Reading. Learners match letter sounds to pictures and draw an object for each given sound. They also join sounds to the words that begin with them, circle pictures that start with a named sound, and name simple everyday pictures. A word bank is provided, with words such as cat, bag, sun, tree and pot. The paper helps teachers check how well young children recognise letter sounds and build early vocabulary.
