Middle Class Writing Scheme of Work Term 3: Small Letters a–z

This scheme of work plans nine weeks of writing lessons for Middle Class (nursery) learners in Term 3. Each week covers three lowercase letters in alphabetical order, from a to z, and pairs each letter with simple example words such as axe, book, drum, kite, umbrella and zebra. The table sets out the learning area, learning outcomes, competences, content, learning activities, skills developed and suggested teaching aids for every week. Activities include writing in the air, copying, completing and reading, all aimed at building eye-hand coordination as well as listening and speaking. Suggested aids are slates, flash cards, books and pencils, and the scheme refers to a learning framework page.
