These Senior 3 History notes were prepared at Trinity College Nabbingo. They cover the Boer movement from the Cape Colony into the interior of South Africa in the 1830s and 1840s. The notes list the long-term and short-term causes of the Great Trek. They follow the main trekker groups and their leaders, describe the problems the trekkers faced, and look at the effects on both Africans and whites. Later sections deal with the Battle of Vegkop (1836) against the Ndebele and the Battle of Blood River (1838) against the Zulu. For each battle the notes give the causes, the reasons for the outcome and the results. The points are numbered, which makes the notes useful for revision and essay practice.
